Most students complete their certification in 3–4 days, depending on their schedule. Online learning can be done at your own pace, followed by pool sessions and ocean dives. We’re flexible and work with your timeline.
You don’t have to be an Olympic swimmer—just comfortable in the water. You’ll need basic swim skills and the ability to float or tread water for 10 minutes. We’ll guide you every step of the way.
Absolutely—when done properly and with training. PADI programs are built on decades of research and safety protocols, and you’ll learn how to manage risks and stay calm underwater.
That’s totally normal, and we’re here to help. Pool sessions are designed to build your comfort gradually, and we’ll never rush you. Your instructor is trained to help ease anxiety and ensure you feel ready.
As an Open Water Diver, you’ll be certified to dive up to 60 feet (18 meters). Training dives typically go no deeper than 40 feet—and always under close supervision.
We provide all the essential gear for training. If you’d like to invest in your own mask, snorkel, or fins, we’re happy to offer guidance based on fit and comfort.
Anywhere in the world! San Diego alone offers some incredible local sites—from kelp forests and sea lion encounters to shipwrecks and reef structures. You’ll also be ready to explore global dive destinations from tropical reefs to freshwater lakes.
Smile and wave! Sharks are usually shy and uninterested in divers. Seeing one is a rare treat and a sign of a healthy ocean. Your instructor will be there to guide you, but chances are the shark will just mind its own business.
Yep! Soft contacts are usually just fine under a mask. Just keep your eyes closed if you’re practicing mask removal to avoid losing one. If you have prescription goggles, bring them up—we can talk about options.
Not exactly—but you’ll learn a full set of hand signals that would make a scuba mime proud. Bonus: no cell service underwater means true peace and quiet.
